Qualitative Researcher

I. Objective

The primary objective of the Qualitative Researcher is to design, lead, and manage qualitative research activities, including individual interviews and group discussions, with a specific focus on children, adolescents and their caregivers.

II. Background

The researcher will play a critical role in a research study aiming to understand the experiences and perceptions of children and adolescents, specifically Ukrainian refugees in Poland. The researcher should possess the necessary expertise to interact with this demographic efficiently and ethically.

III. Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  1. Data Collection: Conduct interviews and discussions, ensuring that participants’ voices are heard and accurately represented.
  2. Data Documentation and Management: Maintain a thorough and detailed record of all data gathered during the research process, ensuring it is managed and transmitted accurately and promptly in line with Triangle’s standards.
  3. Ethical Considerations: Prioritize the safety and well-being of participants, ensuring that all research activities are conducted ethically, with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
  4. Feedback: Provide the research team with updates and required feedback on the process and content of research activities, as well as any potential improvements.

IV. Qualifications:

  1. At least 3 years of proven experience in facilitating focus group discussions or similar research activities, specifically with children and adolescents.
  2. Degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Education, or related fields is desirable.
  3. Training or certification in child and adolescent development or related fields is a plus.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  5. Knowledge in ethical research methods involving children and adolescents is requires.
  6. Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis is highly desirable.
  7. Ability to work independently and also collaborate effectively as part of a team is essential.
  8. Fluency in Ukrainian and ability to communicate in either Polish and/or English are a must.

V. Deliverables:

  1. Detailed verbatim transcripts of each interview or group discussion in Ukrainian and/or English.
  2. Focus group discussion reports including attendance, sampling adherence, key points, observations, and insights in English.

     VI. Reporting:

The facilitator will report directly to the research manager (or designated authority).
