Strategic Advocacy Support for the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights
Background:
Triangle was engaged by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights to deliver a strategic advocacy workshop aimed at strengthening the capabilities of their Migration Department. The workshop, led by Triangle’s Director of Policy, Sami Halabi, was tailored to enhance the skills of legal experts and researchers in addressing urgent human rights concerns at the Polish-Belarusian border, such as forced disappearances and undocumented pushbacks.
Since September 2023, the Helsinki Foundation has been instrumental in documenting and analysing the severe human rights violations occurring at the border. This workshop was a crucial part of Triangle’s ongoing commitment to empower organizations that fight for justice and human rights by equipping them with advanced tools and strategies for more effective advocacy. Through this initiative, Triangle is proud to drive impact by contributing to the capacity-building of frontline organizations, enabling them to tackle complex challenges and amplify their voices in defense of human rights.
Triangle’s Assessment:
- Strategic Advocacy Training: Triangle’s primary objective in this project was to design and deliver a strategic advocacy workshop that would enhance the Helsinki Foundation’s ability to address human rights violations effectively.
- Communication and Engagement Strategies: A core component of the training focused on refining the Foundation’s strategic communication efforts. This involved developing structured messaging to influence public opinion, engage with policymakers, and ensure that human rights violations at the border received the necessary attention at national and international levels.
- Capacity Building: Beyond knowledge transfer, the workshop emphasized skill-building exercises to empower participants with hands-on experience.
